Our FIRST Tech Challenge team.
BassemBots is our FIRST Tech Challenge team. Students design, build, code, and run a robot every season, then compete against other Ontario schools.
We meet weekly through the school year, more often as competitions approach.
Rookie season (2024-25): Innovate Award at the Waterloo Qualifier — recognises creative engineering and a clever solution.
Second season (2025-26): Design Award at the Waterloo Qualifier (judged on engineering process) and Reach Award at the St. Catharines Qualifier (judged on outreach work).
Designing parts in Onshape and machining or 3D-printing them.
Java for the robot. Git for keeping track of changes.
Splitting work, hitting deadlines, and not breaking each other's parts of the robot.
Build it, test it, watch it fail, fix it. Then watch it fail differently.
Tryouts at the start of the school year. Apply to the school first, then ask about robotics.
